Maryland HQL Training Course

Service Description

Unless otherwise exempt, as of October 1, 2013, a Maryland resident must possess a valid Handgun Qualification License (HQL) before he/she may purchase, rent, or receive a handgun. Course: Handgun Qualification Licensing Course/Basic Pistol 1 Time: 10:00 AM (class will ALWAYS begin on time) Duration: Approximately 4 hrs Location: The classroom portion will be held at Crofton Yoga (2431 Crofton Lane #11, Crofton, MD 21114), and then we will travel to On Target Gun Range (2618 Annapolis Road, Severn, Maryland 21144) for the live fire portion. COVID-19 Mitigations: The studio is large and allows for social distancing measures. The classroom has two HEPA filters running during class. All students and instructors must submit to temperature checks upon entry, and wearing a mask at all times is an absolute requirement, with no exceptions. Fees: All class equipment fees are covered by your registration fee, including gun rental, ammunition, targets, eye protection, and ear protection. You will not be required to make any additional equipment purchases in order to complete the course. If you submit your payment and later advise that you cannot attend on the date you are scheduled for, you are welcome to apply your payment to a later date and be rescheduled. This change must be made no later than 48 hours prior to the start of class. Necessary Equipment: New eye protection and ear protection will be issued to you. However, you are welcome to bring your own. What to bring: Instructors recommend you wear a baseball cap to deflect spent brass and a crew neck shirt to avoid brass making contact with the skin of your upper body. Additionally, please wear footwear that will provide stability. The gun range will not allow you to shoot with open toe shoes or heels of any kind. You will need your driver’s license for registration at the gun range. Pre-requisites: No prior experience required. Course Will include: A. Classroom Instruction 1. Pistol knowledge and operation 2.
